TenPoint Omni Brite 2.0 Nocks

Regardless of which arrow you shoot, you no longer need to choose between moon, capture, or flat nocks. TenPoint’s patented all-purpose Omni-Nock™ and its NEW 2014 patent-pending lighted version, the Omni-Brite™ Lighted Nock System, make these special-purpose nocks obsolete. The Omni-Nock and Omni-Brite designs each feature six micro-grooves that form three bowstring channels which eliminate the indexing problem associated with moon and capture nocks. Because the channel “holds” the bowstring in place, the Omni-Nock and Omni-Brite also prevents flat-nock “shoot-over” or “shoot-under”, a growing problem with today’s narrow crossbows with acute string angles. In addition, our five-arrow Easton® lineup of lightweight, standard-weight, and heavyweight crossbow arrows offer you the perfect arrow for whichever shooting or hunting situation you face. Each arrow comes pre-installed with its own colored Omni-Nocks to make it easy to find the right nocks for your arrows.

The three-piece, patent pending Omni-Brite 2.0 Lighted Nock System begins with a Nock-Receiver insert with a six-sided interior cavity designed to accept a combined LED Unit and transparent pegged Omni-Brite 2.0 Nock. The Nock Receiver glues into the nock-end of the arrow and must be indexed or aligned with the vanes. Like the Omni-Nocks, Nock Receivers employ the same color-scheme and are, therefore, arrow-specific.

Michaels of Oregon was founded in Oregon in 1947. In 2005 Bushnell purchased Michaels and shifted most of the production offshore. Bob traveled to China and worked for Bushnell throughout most of this transition period. When his employment was completed he purchased the majority of the Oregon divisions manufacturing equipment and Grovtec was born, in 2006.

GrovTec offers a wide variety of Camo Patterns

He began working for Michaels in the recoil pad/scope cover department and then moved on to the Machine Shop. He held the roles of Black Oxide Finisher, Machine Operator, Machine setup person, Davenport Lead, Machine Shop Foreman, Manufacturing Supervisor, ISO Coordinator and Manufacturing Manager. Why Choose GrovTec:

In the end though, it’s not just a swivel, it’s YOUR swivel.

Our five senior managers have well over 100 years of combined industry experience and knowledge. Beginning with raw materials and continuing through finished products, every characteristic, every tolerance and every finish has been optimized to, frankly, live much longer than we will. Crossbow Maintenance

Practice makes perfect!

Here are some tips from TenPoint Crossbows on maintaining your crossbow:

How often should I lube the rail on my crossbow?

You should lube your rail approximately every 75-100 shots under normal conditions. Applying too much lube can cause excessive wear on your string’s center serving and it will also cause your ACUdraw felt pad to fall off (if your crossbow is equipped with an ACUdraw unit). You should also lube your rail after you have gotten your crossbow wet – dry it thoroughly first, then reapply a fresh coat of rail lube. After approximately one hour after application, the rail lube will dry to a thin glaze.

Can I use a vaseline-like substance on my TenPoint crossbow rail instead of an oil-based rail lube?

Definitely NOT, unless you want to send your crossbow back to our Warranty/Repair Department for a good cleaning. The vaseline-like substances will build up in your trigger box and they also collect dirt. The result is normally the inability to cock your crossbow

I just purchased a TenPoint crossbow, should I loosen or let down the tension on my limbs in the off season to prevent my string & cables from stretching?

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies does not recommend loosening or letting down the tension on limbs in the off season. There is no way to let off enough tension on your string & cables to keep them from stretching. Also, you can end up doing damage to your limbs if not properly tightened before shooting and your crossbow performance will probably suffer.

What type of hard case do you recommend for my crossbow?

TenPoint recommends the Americase AT-EC-36135 Breakdown Crossbow Case. The AT-EC Breakdown Crossbow case is ready for travel and contains a foam insert in the base and a removable hard foam shelf. TenPoint suggests that you put the stock, quiver, and bolts in the bottom and the bow and foot stirrup into the shelf.

Hunting from a Portable Pop Up Blind

By Wade Middleton

When you read the definition of a blind you find words like conceal, hide and being able to conceal one’s intentions. For me that last one really rings true when it comes to what I think a pop up blind is used for in regard to hiding my intentions to be able to hunt from inside the confines of a pop up blind. In most cases I use a blind for hunting whitetail deer. In addition to deer hunting, I’ve also used these portable hiding spots for hunting turkey, waterfowl, as well as, concealing cameramen.

I’ve had many great hunts from a pop up blind… as well as quite a few where I’ve been busted. Now I try to avoid the obvious mistakes such as not blending into the environment. Some of the keys to me when it comes to blending into the environment are brushing in the blind using brush from the area, not opening every window in the blind so that you can create darkness inside the blind and not sky lighting yourself.   In the end I preach to our hunters and team – let’s create our own bush and hide inside that bush using the pup up as a shell to help accomplish that need for concealment.

When it comes to picking a pop up blind off the store shelves I always ask myself a few questions with the first being what I am using it for. Are we going to be bow hunting or gun hunting out of the blind?  If we’re bow hunting we generally need a larger blind so that we can have ample room to draw the bow and maneuver for a shot versus a gun hunt where we need to be able to just get the gun out the window for a shot. Our next consideration is the window configuration.  The window configuration plays a big role in what we can or can’t do out of a blind. You as the hunter have to know what you like and need based on the hunt, your size, and desire for concealment.

Another consideration when it comes to choosing pop up blinds is the actual fabric it’s constructed out of.  Some blinds can last for several seasons when properly cared for while others you’ll be lucky to get a full season out of.  It’s not uncommon for us to put a blind out for an entire season and in those cases we’ll choose one that we know is built to last.

I highly suggest doing research on each blind and even going to stores like Cabela’s who often have several blinds on display so you can sit inside them, visualize the hunting scenarios you’ll encounter while looking out the windows to see what you can, and also to study the construction for your needs.

Finally, after you’ve bought the blind take the time to get it set up in a proper manner and location where you can find success.   For us we’ll clear shooting lanes as needed, anchor the blind down and really set it up in manner to help us be successful.

Make sure to scout several locations before setting up you pop up blind.

Most would stop here but there is still more work to be done.

Brush in the blind using the brush from the area.

Avoid one obvious mistakes such as not blending into the environment

Ticks: The Powassan Virus & Sawyer Insect Repellent

Safety Harbor, Florida (May 11, 2017) – As the temperatures rise, so do concerns about ticks. Lyme Disease has tripled in the United States over the last 20 years, cementing tick borne diseases as a high concern for outdoor enthusiasts and travelers. Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, though treatable, have long been considered to be two of the largest concerns for tick related diseases but the Powassan Virus is even deadlier as it currently has no cure, vaccines, or treatment. The virus is named after the Powassan town in Ontario after it was identified as the cause of death of a young boy. According to the CDC, symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, weakness, confusion, loss of coordination, speech difficulties, and seizures. Transmission levels are lower than other tick borne diseases but the risks are considerably high. Although many people who become infected with Powassan (POW) do not develop any symptoms, approximately 10% of POW virus cases are fatal and approximately 50% of survivors have permanent neurological symptoms.

The first line of defense against the Powassan Virus and other insect borne diseases is prevention. Sawyer Permethrin Insect Repellent Treatment for Clothing, Gear, and Tents repels and kills ticks, using an organic compound similar to the natural pyrethrins produced by the flowers of pyrethrums (like Chrysanthemum flowers). This fabric insect repellent is odorless after drying, lasts for 6 weeks or 6 washes, and can be used to treat clothing, footwear, workwear, bibs, work stations, seat covers, animal beds, hammocks, chairs, tents, and other fabrics. Ticks primarily crawl on to people and pets at ground height but can also be found at waist levels so the more treated fabric you have around you, the more protected from insects you will be. When used with treated clothing, a topical insect repellent can then be applied to exposed skin to complete the barrier of protection. Sawyer 20% Picaridin Insect Repellent is a gear safe topical insect repellent that is safe for use on the entire family is effective against mosquitoes, ticks, and flies. This highly rated topical formula can last up to 14 hours is available in both lotion and spray versions ranging in size from 0.5 oz pen sprays to 1 Gallon lotion dispensing jugs. You can learn more how to use these formulas at sawyer.com/zika/ or for more information about applying Sawyer Permethrin on dogs, please visit sawyer.com/dogs/.
