Wade Middleton Reviews the TenPoint Crossbows Nitro XRT

“We’ve compared it against .44 Magnums shooting through giant buckets of water to see what kind of energy we’re dealing with down range, what kind of power will be impacted in the target…because that’s what you’re looking for in a hunting situation. You want to be able to prove that power, that knockdown capability is there, that’s what you want as an ethical hunter.” – Wade Middleton

Wade Middleton takes a quick look at the knockdown power of the new Ten Point Crossbows Nitro RDX model. He shows how much energy it has when compared to a 44 Mag and he also shows several impacts on various animals from the field while showcasing how easy it is to handle in the field.

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies’ New 2019 Nitro XRT is unlike any crossbow ever produced.  Unleashing speeds up to an industry first 470 feet-per-second and generating a jaw-dropping 190 Foot-Pounds of power, the ultra-smooth Nitro XRT generates 25% flatter arrow trajectory, leading to precision downrange accuracy and devastating knock-down power.

“The Nitro XRT is an industry transcending crossbow,” said Rick Bednar, TenPoint CEO.  “The industry has never seen a crossbow with this much speed and knock-down power, yet be whisper-quiet, have perfect balance, and deliver a super-smooth shot.”

The Nitro XRT is engineered with a reverse draw bow assembly featuring a center-mounted riser that provides superior balance. By shifting the riser from the front of the crossbow to its center, the design eliminates the “nose heavy” feel of traditional crossbows, making it easier to hold steady and keep the crosshairs locked on target. The reverse draw design is also more efficient than traditional crossbows. Drawing the string through the riser creates an elongated power stroke, which generates greater speeds with less poundage, leading to a smoother, lower-vibration shot that is 3x quieter than competing models.

Conquest Scents’ “DANGER ZONE” Keeps Animals Out!

Ever come home to find an unwanted critter in your yard? Or witnessed a pack of raccoons ransacking your trash? Squirrels doing the death climb to get to your bird feeders? What about wild hogs tearing up your landscaping? Conquest Scents has found a solution to these problems in their “Danger Zone” product line of scents.

“Danger Zone” creates a scent barrier to keep deer, coyotes, and other larger animals away from your property by using instincts of animals to avoid predators. One of the most common means of animal communication is their scent. Some animals will use their scent to mark their territory or to tell other animals to stay away.  For example, if you have a garden that pesky deer keep using as their midnight snack, rub some of the “Danger Zone” onto a nearby area. When the deer gets too close, they can smell and realize that there is a predator nearby and they will flee and find someone else’s garden to munch on.

Conquest Scents‘ “Danger Zone” come in two different “sizes” so to speak, Small and Large Barrier. The Small Animal Barrier model deters rabbits, squirrels, mice, cats, woodchucks, skunks, raccoons, opossum, small dogs and more. The Large Barrier model works on Deer, Dogs, Coyotes, Elk, Hogs, Bobcats, House Cats, Raccoons, Rabbits, Squirrels, and more as well.

The scent of “Danger Zone” is encapsulated and preserved in wax with real urines from predators until you apply to a surface of an area to create a barrier that is animal free. Since it is a wax base, there are no spills, leaks, or mess you have to worry about, and rain or dew will not affect it.  You can apply “Danger Zone” to rocks, posts, landscaping, building foundations, or anywhere you wish to keep animals away. We recommend that your reapply every 3-5 days.

Introducing the Garmin Xero Laser Bow Sight

The all new Garmin Xero Bow Sight

Garmin is excited to announce the Xero A1 and A1i, two groundbreaking auto-ranging digital laser bow sights that automatically measure the distance to a target and provide a precise, virtual lighted pin for the shot. The first-of-their-kind Xero bow sights are being announced in conjunction with the 2018 Archery Trade Association (ATA) Trade Show in Indianapolis, and can be seen at the Garmin booth (#4035).

The Xero features a silent, single-button trigger mounted on the bow’s grip lets the archer range targets at rest or at full draw, virtually eliminating distance estimation and hunter movement – two of the biggest challenges in archery hunting. The laser range finder instantly provides the precise angle-compensated distance – up to 100 yards on game or 300 yards on reflective targets. The Xero then projects a precise, virtual LED pin that is only visible to the archer, and without the clutter of multiple physical pins. An ambient light sensor ensures the pin brightness is optimized for various shooting conditions.

“The Xero bow sight is truly a game-changer in the archery world. It helps take the guesswork out of ranging a target,” said Dan Bartel, vice president of worldwide sales. “When that buck of a lifetime walks by, knowing your precise yardage and having the exact pin to shoot is often the difference between making that shot or going home empty-handed.”

Archers can customize the Xero for single or multiple pin configurations, or they can manually select a pin of a pre-determined distance. A sunlight-readable display helps the user configure and customize the sight and provides information like target distance and angle. It also provides a shot odometer, so archers can keep tabs on how many times they’ve shot in one practice session or over the lifetime of the bow.

The Xero A1i includes many additional features. Laser Locate™ estimates the arrow’s point of impact and transfers that location to a compatible Garmin device (sold separately) so hunters know where to begin their recovery of game. The A1i also enables the archer to configure multiple arrow profiles, to easily transition between a target or hunting setup without readjusting the sight. Archers can also analyze and improve their performance with shot dynamics – information like arrow speed, roll of the bow, and bow impulse duration. Additionally, the A1i features user selectable red (default) and green LED pins.

The Xero operates up to a year on two AAA lithium batteries and comes in both right and left-handed configurations. Ruggedized and water rated to IPX7, the Xero can withstand the rigors of bowhunting. The Xero A1 has a minimum retail price of $799.99, and the A1i has a minimum retail price of $999.99. Both models are available in the first quarter of 2018.

Some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit the use of electronic bow sights for hunting. Always know and obey all hunting regulations before using this device.

Follow Garmin Fish & Hunt on FacebookTwitter and Instagram to learn more about Xero in the coming months.
