TenPoint Stealth 450: Greater Long-Range Accuracy and Speed

NEW TenPoint Stealth 450™ Built for Premium Speed, Greater Long-Range Accuracy, and Safe De-Cocking

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies launched their fastest forward draw crossbow ever, the NEW Stealth 450.  Faster and more accurate at longer ranges, the Stealth 450 delivers speeds of 450 FPS (400-grain arrow) and features the industry best ACUslide™ silent cocking and safe de-cocking system.  The ultra-compact crossbow measures a mere 6.5-inches wide, 33-inches long, and weighs 7.5-pounds.

TenPoint Stealth 450

Fueled by RX6-Cams™, the forward draw bow assembly is the difference maker for the Stealth 450. The innovative cam system generates incredible rotation to produce speeds of 450 feet-per-second. The crossbow’s revolutionary Vector-Quad™ cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two which eliminates cam lean and generates straight-nock travel leading to same-hole down-range accuracy.

New Scope and Scope Struts

Close up of Scope on the Stealth 450 crossbow

The Stealth generates greater down-range accuracy thanks to the combination of its NEW Scope Struts and 100-yard EVO-X® Marksman™ Elite Scope. The dual Scope Struts, along with a NEW, longer dovetail (+1.5”) provide rock-solid stability for the heaviest of rangefinding or night vision scopes and exponential durability for the scope – ensuring the scope rail does not move if dropped during the hunt. The Scope Struts increase strength and rigidity by 80%.

The EVO-X Marksman Elite Scope is a variable speed scope, capable of precision down-range accuracy out to 100-yards.  The variable speed design is compatible with crossbows shooting up to 500 FPS, the Marksman Elite scope features external Target Turrets for easy adjustment to windage and elevation (one click represents ½” MOA at 100-yards) for unmatched long-range accuracy.

In addition, a rail-mounted bubble level allows you to identify and correct any “canting” of the crossbow, helping to eliminate left and right misses.

“The new Stealth 450 is the pinnacle of a high performance, premium forward draw crossbow.  It is lightning fast, lightweight, well-balanced, and incredibly accurate at long ranges.” said Phil Bednar, TenPoint CEO.  “In addition, the ACUslide system is the best cocking and de-cocking system on the market.”

ACUSlide Comes Standard on the Stealth 450

Hunter using the ACUslide on the Stealth 450

The patented ACUslide™ Cocking and De-Cocking System features the Auto-Brake Gear System that separates TenPoint from all other de-cocking crossbows on the market.  The patented Auto-Brake eliminates the potential of losing control during de-cocking which can lead to injury and costly bow damage. While cocking and de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required – and the handle will stop in place. In addition, while most crossbow crank cocking devices require 15+ lbs. of force to operate, the ACUslide allows you to silently cock the crossbow with just 5 lbs. of force, making it easy to operate for people of all ages and abilities.

Profile of TenPoint Stealth 450 crossbow

Like all TenPoint ACUslide crossbows, the Stealth 450 features the S1™ trigger.  This 2-stage, zero-creep design features an advanced roller-sear system that delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The trigger is equipped with a new DFI (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration. An integrated string stop system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration.

The Tech Behind Increased Accuracy

The 19-inch MICRO-TRAC™ barrel reduces string-to-barrel contact by 50% to provide increased accuracy and the longest string life in the industry – surpassing competitor crossbows by hundreds of shots.

Profile of the TenPoint Stealth 450

The ultra-light, two-piece TEC-TACTICAL™ stock is built for comfort for shooters of all sizes and includes an adjustable butt plate that adjusts 1” to provide ideal fit. The stock is also compatible with TenPoint’s optional Raised Cheek Comb to ensure perfect alignment with today’s popular rangefinding optics.

The Stealth 450 is also equipped with the Sentry Bowhanger that allows the hunter to easily hang their bow in the stand and keeps the broadhead within the bows profile for use in a ground blind.

A dovetail bubble level is also included to help eliminate “tilting/canting” of the crossbow – a critical factor in left/right accuracy.

Crossbow Safety Tips

How to keep yourself and others safe while on the range or out hunting.

by Wade Middleton

Crossbows have evolved both in features and speed in the past decade. During that time, I had a chance to spend time testing and hunting with the fantastic lineup of TenPoint & Wicked Ridge Crossbows. The lineup of crossbows for both brands ranges from entry-level price point models to top-of-the-line crossbows that can be outfitted with a variety of magnification accessories, such as the Garmin Xero X1i crossbow sight.

When choosing from those two legendary brands, you will be sure to find a crossbow that fits your needs based on the model, price point, energy, and speed you want to put into the target. Once you choose a crossbow, get it home and open the box, you will notice it comes with a complete set of well-thought-out instructions that make it easy to set up and sight-in your crossbow. I suggest you read the directions first, then go back and begin to build your crossbow, set it up, and shoot it.

BE SAFE. DON’T ASSUME.

Man reading directions for crossbow

Always read the instructions, SAFETY FIRST!

This is why I said above to read the directions before starting to build your crossbow. Safety is something that we cannot reiterate enough on really anything. Always pay attention to the different safety components, do not assume! I’ve built a lot of different crossbows, and while all are similar, they all have different parts that you need to learn about and understand.

Safety on anything you shoot is important and is no different when using a crossbow, giving your crossbow a good once over before using it is key. I always check out and pay attention to the limbs, cables, and strings. Look for any damage that may have happened in shipping or while you are on a hunt. Let’s say the crossbow gets knocked around while traveling or is dropped inadvertently during a hunt, something could end up going wrong if not checked. Crossbows are a mechanical device so always assume and look at everything. It’s what I do with any firearm, compound bow, and even my fishing gear.

BE MINDFUL OF YOUR HANDS.

Man aiming crossbow

Make sure BOTH HANDS are below the flight deck when holding and aiming the crossbow.

Next thing I always tell someone when they shoot a crossbow for the first time is be mindful of where our hands are. It is important to pay attention to your hand positioning on the crossbow. Make sure everything is below the flight deck when holding and aiming the crossbow; do not get your fingers above the flight deck or anywhere there is a moving part.

CROSSBOW SAFETY & SURROUNDINGS

Close up of safety mechanism on a Wicked Ridge crossbow

The safety on these crossbows is remarkably similar to that on any firearm.

Another thing to keep in mind is the safety on your crossbow. The safety on these crossbows is remarkably similar to that on any firearm. When you go from safety to the fire, remember the safety is still a mechanical device. It can fail. Follow the same four safety rules you would if you were handling a firearm.

  • Always keep your firearm (in this case, a crossbow) in a safe direction. Never point your crossbow at anything you do intend to shoot.
  • Treat all crossbows as if they are loaded.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger (and under the flight deck) until you are ready to shoot.
  • Always be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

Pay attention to your surroundings if you are at the range or out hunting because if you miss your target, the arrow can skip off the ground and travel a long distance, inflicting significant damage on someone you may not see, the wrong deer, or even livestock. Just like a firearm, make sure you know what is around and behind your target before shooting.

HAVE FUN AND ENJOY!

Crossbow hunting is just another means and method to enjoy the outdoors and hunt big game!

We are excited that you have purchased or are interested in getting into the sport of crossbows! You can easily find tons of question-and-answer videos on TenPoint’s Youtube Channel, our YouTube Channel. TenPoint’s website is a great resource as well to learn a lot more about crossbows, how they are set up, and perform out in the field.

Which Crossbow is Right for You?

Deciding which crossbow meets your standards and budget

By Wade Middleton

Crossbow hunting is something I have done quite a bit now for almost 20 years. Personally, it’s amazing to see how crossbow technology has evolved. Regardless of whether you are looking at a specific price point/entry-level model or the most advanced technology in the world, you have a wide range of options.

As you go through the entire lineup of crossbows that TenPoint & Wicked Ridge (which I’ve personally shot for the last two decades) offer, there are many different models with a wide array of features available. My favorite crossbows I recommend right now are listed below.

TenPoint Turbo S1 Crossbow:

The TenPoint Turbo S1 is the most affordable high-end crossbow

The TenPoint Turbo S1 crossbow shoots 390 feet per second, delivers 135-foot pounds of kinetic energy, has the safe cocking & de-cocking AcuSlide system that takes only 5 pounds of force to use, and comes in at an ultra-compact 31-inches long. The features on the TenPoint Turbo S-1 are equal to a lot of the top-end models that are out there but still fall into the mid-range price point.

TenPoint Nitro 505 Crossbow:

Crossbow mounted on shooting sticks

With more than 25,000 test shots fired, the Nitro 505 is built to maintain the durability you’ve come to expect from the company well-known for building the best crossbows and who make make speed and safe de-cocking a priority.

When you look at the top-of-the-line crossbows such as the TenPoint Nitro 505 and Nitro 505 Xero that shoot up to 505 feet per second (that is SCREAMING FAST) they deliver an incredible amount of energy on the target. We broke the 512-514 fps barrier with ours in tests at our deer camp. These new TenPoint Nitro 505 crossbows are some of the best built crossbows I have ever seen.

Wicked Ridge Crossbows:

Two crossbows leaning against red fence

The Wicked Ridge Fury 410 De-Cock (left) and the Raider 400 De-Cock (right) both feature the ACUdraw de-cocking system

For people trying to get into crossbow hunting and have $500-$1,000 to spend, there is a wealth of models within the Wicked Ridge and TenPoint lineup they can be happy/confident with. Crossbows from Wicked Ridge like the Fury 410 De-Cock or the Raider 400 De-Cock both feature TenPoint’s AcuDraw de-cocking system found on the more expensive TenPoint models for half the cost. Even the Wicked Ridge Blackhawk 360, the lowest-priced American-made crossbow, comes in at $399 and boasts up to 360fps with unmatched downrange accuracy.

Crossbow hunting expands your means and methods to hunt and harvest big game in many states. There are hunters who enjoy the up-close action that a bow provides but can no longer shoot a compound bow due to an injury or another reason and hunters looking for a new challenge. Also women and kids find crossbows appealing because crossbows have no loud bang or recoil and can be used as an introductory tool to hunting. There are very few reasons we can think of not getting into crossbow hunting.

Regardless of why you take up crossbow hunting, some of the models above will certainly enhance the reason that you chose to.

TenPoint HAVOC: The Fastest Compact Crossbow Ever

Size, Speed, and Comfort Redefined with TenPoint’s
26.5” Long, 440 Feet-Per-Second Havoc RS440

Hunter with Crossbow

The TenPoint HAVOC RS440

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies recently launched the industry’s fastest crossbow-per-inch – the NEW Havoc RS440. Delivering 440 FPS with same-hole accuracy from a platform measuring only 26.5” long and 7.5” narrow, the Havoc RS440 redefines compact crossbow performance and comfort, while providing safe de-cocking with the revolutionary ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system.

“The Havoc is the most comfortable compact crossbow on the market. Period.,” said TenPoint CEO Rick Bednar. “When we launched a compact bow project, we wanted to create a bow that felt good to shooters of all sizes, while implementing our reverse draw technology that allows us to deliver unmatched speed, power, and accuracy. Shoulder it and shoot it – you’ll understand why it redefines the compact crossbow in size, speed, comfort, and noise level.”

Havoc Crossbow

The Havoc’s reduction in length to just 26.5” overall is accomplished with the development of TenPoint’s NEW 16-inch -MICRO-TRAC™ barrel and NEW ultra-light, two-piece TECH-TACTICAL™ stock. The fluted aluminum barrel also reduces the flight deck surface by an incredible 50%, increasing accuracy and ensuring the longest string life in the industry, while the new stock features a tactical styled butt stock, as well as a hollow pocket that houses the ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system. In addition, the stock’s butt plate adjusts 1” to provide all shooters the ideal fit and combines with the NEW EVO-X Marksman Elite Precision Scope to yield perfect eye level alignment.

Scope Options

TenPoint Havoc crossbow

The EVO-X Marksman Elite Scope (top) features a variable speed and arrow drop-compensation setting for crossbows that shoot between 300 and 500 FPS.

The NEW EVO-X Marksman Elite Scope, included in the bow package, features a 2-8X, capable of precision downrange accuracy out to 100 yards.  The variable speed design is compatible with crossbows shooting up to 500 FPS, the Marksman Elite scope features external Target Turrets for easy adjustment to windage and elevation  (one click represents ½” MOA at 100 yards) for unmatched long-range accuracy. The Havoc is also available with the NEW Garmin Xero® X1i Crossbow Scope.

“Our new partnership with Garmin mates the world’s most advanced crossbow with the most advanced crossbow sight on the market,” said Rick Bednar, TenPoint CEO. “You’ve never seen a crossbow package like this before – and like our other ACUslide crossbows it offers silent cocking and safe de-cocking.”

Speed and Power

Havoc Xero Crossbow

The Havoc features a patented reverse draw bow assembly that draws the string through the riser, creating a 14-inch power stroke.  The increased power stroke generates more speed with less draw weight – creating a smoother, quieter shot. The elongated power stroke also keeps the arrow nock engaged with the string before release – this is a critical component in performance, as the longer the nock remains engaged with the string, the more accurate the crossbow will shoot.  In addition, this center-mounted riser provides superior balance, eliminating the “nose heavy” feel of traditional crossbows and making it easier to hold steady, increasing the shooters accuracy.

The RX7-Cam™ system rotates an incredible 360-degrees to produce speeds of 440 feet-per-second with a 400-grain arrow. The crossbow’s revolutionary Vector-Quad™ cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two which eliminates cam lean and generates straight-nock travel leading to same-hole downrange accuracy.

The ACUslide, the talk of the 2020 crossbow market, features the company’s groundbreaking Auto-Brake Gear System, which allows for silent cocking and safe and controlled de-cocking of the crossbow.  The Auto-Brake Gear System eliminates the potential of losing control which can lead to injury or costly bow damage during the cocking or de-cocking process. While cocking and de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required – and the handle will stop in place. The 6-inch XTEND Adjustable Crank Handle reduces cocking effort to 5-pounds and stores securely into the butt-stock.

S1 crossbow trigger

TenPoint’s S1 2-stage, zero-creep design features a roller sear system that sets a new standard in high-performance crossbow accuracy.

The Havoc RS440 features the company’s S1 trigger.  This 2-stage, zero-creep design features an advanced roller-sear system that delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The trigger is equipped with a DFI™ (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration. An integrated string stop system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration.

The crossbow weighs just 7.5-pounds (w/o accessories), measures only 26.5-inches (w/o stirrup) in length and shoots up to a supercharged 440 feet-per-second with a 400-grain arrow.

The Havoc RS440 comes with the new EVO-X CenterPunch 16 carbon arrows.  The ultra-accurate 16’ arrows weigh 400-grains and feature 17.5% FOC.  Each arrow is inspected for straightness to within .001-inch and each package is weight matched to within 1-grain per arrow.

Decorated in Veil® Alpine camo or Graphite Gray, the Havoc RS440 ships completely assembled and includes a Ready-To-Hunt package.

The package includes:

  • ACUslide™ cocking and de-cocking system

The Evolution of the Crossbow

The Popularity of Crossbow Hunting is Growing

by Wade Middleton

Hunter wading through water with crossbow

In this episode of Cabela’s Deer Gear TV, we are looking at the evolution of the crossbow and how it has become a popular option when hunting for big game, especially whitetail deer. Brian Flaherty from TenPoint Crossbows joins us in this episode, as we discuss the newest crossbows (Vapor RS470, Vengent S440, and Viper S400) to hit the market and the revolutionary technology that they possess. No matter your opinion on crossbows, you can’t deny the amazing advancement in technology that they have had over the years.

I’ve had a chance to hunt with a lot of different models of TenPoint Crossbows. Field test them or provide feedback about each one of the different models that we’ve used and what’s been exciting to me is to see the evolution of them. Whether I’ve been deer hunting with them in many different situations and scenarios, whether I have taken exotics, I shot a giant fallow one time with them. Turkey hunting with them, lots of hogs at various times. All year long, I’ve found reasons and needs to go hunting with a crossbow.

Brian Flaherty Posing with Deer

Brian Flaherty poses with his long 8-point and the Viper S400

Whitetail hunting is something that has driven and seen such a huge increase in the crossbow market. Crossbows have always been both not only a recruitment tool but a retention tool. So crossbows on the recruitment side, you can start kids at young ages that maybe can’t pull a vertical bow back yet and you take them out there and they can be shooting bullseyes with their crossbow or they can go out and they can harvest an animal at such a young age, that just gets them into the sport of archery and they get excited about it. Naturally, they may transition to a vertical bow, but on the recruitment side of it, now we’re building the numbers of hunters out there. On the retention side, there are situations that come up whether it’s a shoulder surgery or maybe just whatever physical things may prohibit someone from getting out there and drawing their vertical bow. They can still get out there and enjoy the sport of bowhunting and then for gun hunters that want to get into some archery seasons or some late season archery hunters, it’s just all over the place from recruitment and retention crossbows are doing a great job. – Brian Flaherty, Marketing Manager for TenPoint Crossbows

Hunter smiling with deer and crossbow

Wade is all smiles with his first buck with the TenPoint Vapor RS470

I’m a person that just loves to hunt with a lot of different means and methods and TenPoint Crossbows and I have been working together for quite some time now. What I learned about the TenPoint models looking at their innovations, field testing them, and taking them hunting for a lot of different types of game species is that their innovation and advancement continue to evolve hunting with crossbows into levels of comfort and deadly accuracy that are mind-boggling.

There’s still a little bit of a mindset with vertical bow hunters that the crossbow doesn’t belong in archery season, I would just tell you to go out there and try them, they’re very cool to shoot, they’re very fun to shoot. They provide tons of opportunities for hunters and it’s growing in numbers every single year and we’re just happy that we’re the forefront of it. For the past 25 years, TenPoint Crossbows have been at the forefront of crossbow technology and continuing to push the envelope and provide more opportunities for hunters everywhere. – Brian Flaherty, Marketing Manager for TenPoint Crossbows

Wade Middleton Reviews the TenPoint Crossbows Nitro XRT

“We’ve compared it against .44 Magnums shooting through giant buckets of water to see what kind of energy we’re dealing with down range, what kind of power will be impacted in the target…because that’s what you’re looking for in a hunting situation. You want to be able to prove that power, that knockdown capability is there, that’s what you want as an ethical hunter.” – Wade Middleton

Wade Middleton takes a quick look at the knockdown power of the new Ten Point Crossbows Nitro RDX model. He shows how much energy it has when compared to a 44 Mag and he also shows several impacts on various animals from the field while showcasing how easy it is to handle in the field.

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies’ New 2019 Nitro XRT is unlike any crossbow ever produced.  Unleashing speeds up to an industry first 470 feet-per-second and generating a jaw-dropping 190 Foot-Pounds of power, the ultra-smooth Nitro XRT generates 25% flatter arrow trajectory, leading to precision downrange accuracy and devastating knock-down power.

“The Nitro XRT is an industry transcending crossbow,” said Rick Bednar, TenPoint CEO.  “The industry has never seen a crossbow with this much speed and knock-down power, yet be whisper-quiet, have perfect balance, and deliver a super-smooth shot.”

The Nitro XRT is engineered with a reverse draw bow assembly featuring a center-mounted riser that provides superior balance. By shifting the riser from the front of the crossbow to its center, the design eliminates the “nose heavy” feel of traditional crossbows, making it easier to hold steady and keep the crosshairs locked on target. The reverse draw design is also more efficient than traditional crossbows. Drawing the string through the riser creates an elongated power stroke, which generates greater speeds with less poundage, leading to a smoother, lower-vibration shot that is 3x quieter than competing models.

TenPoint’s NEW Nitro XRT™: Unprecedented Knock-Down Power

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies’ New 2019 Nitro XRT is unlike any crossbow ever produced.  Unleashing speeds up to an industry first 470 feet-per-second and generating a jaw-dropping 190 Foot-Pounds of power, the ultra-smooth Nitro XRT generates 25% flatter arrow trajectory, leading to precision downrange accuracy and devastating knock-down power.

The reverse draw design is also more efficient than traditional crossbows. Drawing the string through the riser creates an elongated power stroke, which generates greater speeds with less poundage, leading to a smoother, lower-vibration shot that is 3x quieter than competing models.

Fueled by RX7-Cams™ and SLING-SHOT™ technology, the reverse-draw bow assembly generates the unprecedented power. The innovative cam system rotates an industry leading 404-degrees which powers the DUAL FLEX™ limbs, while the SLING-SHOT technology provides an extra turbo boost to produce record-breaking speeds up to 470 feet-per-second, leading to devastating impacts. Meanwhile, the assembly’s revolutionary Vector Quad™ cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two for increased strength and stability. Connecting at the cam, wrapping around the turnbuckle, and terminating on the riser, the cable system creates perfectly level cams, generating straight-nock travel and pin-point down-range accuracy.

At the bow assembly’s foundation is a lightweight CNC machined 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum riser featuring the company’s TRI-LOCK™ pocket system that ensures perfect alignment between the pocket and limbs for increased accuracy.

The bow assembly is mounted to a 20-inch TAC-LITE™ fluted aluminum barrel that reduces the weight and increases the accuracy of the crossbow. Its weaver-style dovetail is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration and improve accuracy.  In addition, the Nitro XRT is equipped with the new T5 trigger, which features an auto-engaging safety and a DFI™ (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor).  The combination of the new trigger and the reverse draw design make the Nitro XRT the smoothest shooting TenPoint crossbow to date.

An integrated string stop system is also included that fits into the end of the barrel to further reduce noise and vibration.

The Nitro XRT features TenPoint’s lightweight, three-piece C3™ stock.  Designed to reduce weight, noise, and vibration, the high-tech stock is fitted with an adjustable cheek piece and butt plate. The rubber cheek piece adjusts to three separate positions by removing the screws and sliding it to create perfect eye-level alignment. Likewise, the rubber butt plate adjusts to two positions to match the shooter’s length-of-pull.

The bow and stock assemblies combine to create a perfectly balanced, sharp-shooting crossbow that weighs 7.4-pounds, measures only 30.7-inches long, and shoots up to a supercharged 470 feet-per-second – making it the fastest and shortest crossbow ever.

Like all TenPoint models, the XRT is equipped with dual-purpose rubber safety wings to reduce noise and vibration as well as helping to keep the shooter’s fore-grip hand safely below the flight deck.

Double-dip fluid imaged in KUIU® Verde 2.0 camo, the Nitro XRT ships completely assembled and is available with an extensive Ready-To-Hunt package.

The package includes the ACUdraw PRO™ silent cocking device, Evo-X™ Marksman™ Precision Scope, TenPoint STAG™ Hard Crossbow Case, 6-pack of EVO-X CenterPunch™ premium carbon arrows NEW Alpha-Nocks™, dovetail bubble level, integrated string stop system, sling, and a quiver.
