Yamaha Motor USA Headlines Season Premiere of “Modern Marvels: Machines”

Watch Host, Adam Richman, Discover How Yamaha Builds “Incredible Machines” at the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America in Newnan, Georgia

Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, a recognized leader in outdoor recreation, was recently featured on The HISTORY® Channel’s season premiere of “Modern Marvels: Machines.

After an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at the Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC), host Adam Richman and “Modern Marvels: Machines” delivers a thrilling look at some of the most modern and exciting recreational vehicles in the world while taking viewers into Yamaha’s U.S. production and product testing facility like never before.

The show’s first episode of the season shines the spotlight on Yamaha’s workforce in Georgia and the company’s extensive U.S.-based manufacturing at YMMC, capturing an insider’s perspective and visiting areas of the Yamaha factory traditionally off limits to camera crews and public viewing. Richman and the “Modern Marvels: Machines” crew enjoyed unprecedented access to Yamaha’s production and testing facilities to learn how Yamaha vehicles are designed, developed, tested, and produced across YMMC’s campus in Newnan, Georgia.

“Adam and the crew were great to work with and a pleasure to have here at the factory,” said Bob Brown, Vice President, Finance and Operations Support. “We not only wanted to highlight our vehicles being built with pride on the line, but also the amazing folks who work here. We were glad to see the Modern Marvels team do exactly that, for it was about the people at YMMC and the result of their hard work, dedication, and quality of craftsmanship that’s delivered to the world.”

A pillar of the Newnan, Georgia, community, Yamaha has produced nearly 4 million vehicles at YMMC since its founding in 1986, and creates thousands of jobs at facilities in 11 states in the U.S., including nearly 2,000 at the YMMC facility alone, where Yamaha makes all of their Side-by-Side vehicles, full-size ATVs, WaveRunners, and more for global distribution. “Every sixty seconds an ATV or a Golf Car rolls off the line,” says a YMMC employee in the episode.

Richman sums it up, “This is just incredible!” as he continues his tour throughout the Yamaha factory floor. But the finale comes when he gets in the passenger seat for his first ever Wolverine RMAX 1000 ride on Yamaha’s Real World testing track.

“If you’re interested in our Proven Off-Road machines and how they’re made, this episode is a great behind-the-scenes look at exactly that,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s Motorsports marketing manager. “Everyone at Yamaha takes great pride in the U.S. production of so many of our products, and it’s exciting to see the people in our Georgia factory recognized for their hard work, expertise, and enthusiasm for building the toughest, most capable machines in our industry.”

Yamaha Delivers Essential Support to Public Lands for Outdoor Recreation

Outdoor Access Initiative Contributes Over $350,000 to Land Conservancy in 2020

Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, today announces the completion of the 2020 Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI) grant cycle with funding decisions for the fourth quarter. In total, Yamaha granted more than $350,000 in 2020 while supplying essential support to public lands providing vital access to outdoor recreation across the country. The Yamaha OAI program continues to lead the powersports industry in providing direct monetary support to grassroots efforts helping to protect, expand, and improve entry to public spaces off-road for motorized recreation.

“The pressure on public lands during the pandemic has been enormous due to people finding solace outdoors. Their adventures gave off-road enthusiasts a much-needed breather from the stress we’ve all experienced over the past year,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s Motorsports marketing manager. “Public land belongs to everyone and we all have a responsibility to take care of it. Yamaha is proud to continue supporting our riders’ favorite outdoor activities, including OHV riding, hunting, camping and fishing, through the Outdoor Access Initiative.”

The fourth quarter 2020 Yamaha OAI grants totaling more than $90,000 were awarded to the following organizations:

Blue Ribbon Coalition – Pocatello, ID

East Branch Sno-Rovers & ATV Club – Medway, Maine

Idaho Single Track Alliance – Idaho Falls, ID

Reno Area Dirtriders – Reno, NV

Swampsiders Snowmobile Club – Bigfork, MN

“The need for funding and leadership for public lands increased exponentially in 2020 with more people engaging in outdoor recreation at the same time resources were being restricted. It was a relief to know we could reach out to Yamaha to help,” said Ben Burr from the Blue Ribbon Coalition, which received $11,740 to develop a trail guide for Utah’s San Rafael Desert area to help visitors explore safely and responsibly. “The Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative is a trusted resource for the outdoor recreation community with a history of putting the funds where they are needed to make big improvements on the ground.”

“The 2020 fourth quarter grant projects spanned the spectrum of powersports, with funds going to groups from all categories of Yamaha’s off-highway vehicles:  Motorcycles, ATVs, Side-by-Sides, and snowmobiles,” continued Nessl. “We prioritize those projects meeting the needs of diverse OHV riders to support their local riding communities.”

TenPoint HAVOC: The Fastest Compact Crossbow Ever

Size, Speed, and Comfort Redefined with TenPoint’s
26.5” Long, 440 Feet-Per-Second Havoc RS440

Hunter with Crossbow

The TenPoint HAVOC RS440

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies recently launched the industry’s fastest crossbow-per-inch – the NEW Havoc RS440. Delivering 440 FPS with same-hole accuracy from a platform measuring only 26.5” long and 7.5” narrow, the Havoc RS440 redefines compact crossbow performance and comfort, while providing safe de-cocking with the revolutionary ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system.

“The Havoc is the most comfortable compact crossbow on the market. Period.,” said TenPoint CEO Rick Bednar. “When we launched a compact bow project, we wanted to create a bow that felt good to shooters of all sizes, while implementing our reverse draw technology that allows us to deliver unmatched speed, power, and accuracy. Shoulder it and shoot it – you’ll understand why it redefines the compact crossbow in size, speed, comfort, and noise level.”

Havoc Crossbow

The Havoc’s reduction in length to just 26.5” overall is accomplished with the development of TenPoint’s NEW 16-inch -MICRO-TRAC™ barrel and NEW ultra-light, two-piece TECH-TACTICAL™ stock. The fluted aluminum barrel also reduces the flight deck surface by an incredible 50%, increasing accuracy and ensuring the longest string life in the industry, while the new stock features a tactical styled butt stock, as well as a hollow pocket that houses the ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system. In addition, the stock’s butt plate adjusts 1” to provide all shooters the ideal fit and combines with the NEW EVO-X Marksman Elite Precision Scope to yield perfect eye level alignment.

Scope Options

TenPoint Havoc crossbow

The EVO-X Marksman Elite Scope (top) features a variable speed and arrow drop-compensation setting for crossbows that shoot between 300 and 500 FPS.

The NEW EVO-X Marksman Elite Scope, included in the bow package, features a 2-8X, capable of precision downrange accuracy out to 100 yards.  The variable speed design is compatible with crossbows shooting up to 500 FPS, the Marksman Elite scope features external Target Turrets for easy adjustment to windage and elevation  (one click represents ½” MOA at 100 yards) for unmatched long-range accuracy. The Havoc is also available with the NEW Garmin Xero® X1i Crossbow Scope.

“Our new partnership with Garmin mates the world’s most advanced crossbow with the most advanced crossbow sight on the market,” said Rick Bednar, TenPoint CEO. “You’ve never seen a crossbow package like this before – and like our other ACUslide crossbows it offers silent cocking and safe de-cocking.”

Speed and Power

Havoc Xero Crossbow

The Havoc features a patented reverse draw bow assembly that draws the string through the riser, creating a 14-inch power stroke.  The increased power stroke generates more speed with less draw weight – creating a smoother, quieter shot. The elongated power stroke also keeps the arrow nock engaged with the string before release – this is a critical component in performance, as the longer the nock remains engaged with the string, the more accurate the crossbow will shoot.  In addition, this center-mounted riser provides superior balance, eliminating the “nose heavy” feel of traditional crossbows and making it easier to hold steady, increasing the shooters accuracy.

The RX7-Cam™ system rotates an incredible 360-degrees to produce speeds of 440 feet-per-second with a 400-grain arrow. The crossbow’s revolutionary Vector-Quad™ cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two which eliminates cam lean and generates straight-nock travel leading to same-hole downrange accuracy.

The ACUslide, the talk of the 2020 crossbow market, features the company’s groundbreaking Auto-Brake Gear System, which allows for silent cocking and safe and controlled de-cocking of the crossbow.  The Auto-Brake Gear System eliminates the potential of losing control which can lead to injury or costly bow damage during the cocking or de-cocking process. While cocking and de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required – and the handle will stop in place. The 6-inch XTEND Adjustable Crank Handle reduces cocking effort to 5-pounds and stores securely into the butt-stock.

S1 crossbow trigger

TenPoint’s S1 2-stage, zero-creep design features a roller sear system that sets a new standard in high-performance crossbow accuracy.

The Havoc RS440 features the company’s S1 trigger.  This 2-stage, zero-creep design features an advanced roller-sear system that delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The trigger is equipped with a DFI™ (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration. An integrated string stop system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration.

The crossbow weighs just 7.5-pounds (w/o accessories), measures only 26.5-inches (w/o stirrup) in length and shoots up to a supercharged 440 feet-per-second with a 400-grain arrow.

The Havoc RS440 comes with the new EVO-X CenterPunch 16 carbon arrows.  The ultra-accurate 16’ arrows weigh 400-grains and feature 17.5% FOC.  Each arrow is inspected for straightness to within .001-inch and each package is weight matched to within 1-grain per arrow.

Decorated in Veil® Alpine camo or Graphite Gray, the Havoc RS440 ships completely assembled and includes a Ready-To-Hunt package.

The package includes:

  • ACUslide™ cocking and de-cocking system
  • Evo-X Marksman™ Elite Precision Scope
  • 6-pack of EVO-X CenterPunch™ 16 Premium Carbon Crossbow Arrows (.001” straightness, 400-grains)
  • Integrated String Stop System
  • 6-arrow Tech QuiverTenPoint Crossbows Logo

Hunting Whitetail with the Trijicon Huron Riflescope

My thoughts on the Trijicon Huron Riflescope

by Wade Middleton

In deer hunting, many hunters will have a day when they’re going to be let down by the quality of their riflescope. It happened to me when I was younger. Now that I’m older I’ve heard these same comments time and time again from other people, “I just couldn’t see him.”, “My scope was fogged up…”, “It was late, and the buck was in the shadows.” Sound familiar?

The next comment is almost always… “I knew I needed a better scope, but I wanted to save a few dollars and thought this one looked good when I looked through it while I was inside the store. In most cases, the buck that got away because you couldn’t see it could have been avoided with a better riflescope.

When it comes to shopping for riflescopes, this is one of those times you need to spend more on and not less. Far too many of us go grab a rifle, throw a cheap scope on there, and don’t pay attention to the scope mounts, the quality of the lens, how well the scope is built or how it’s going to perform in low light situations. This can all be avoided if you will take a bit of time and think about the next few paragraphs and keep in mind the following:

– The clarity and ability to gather light in low light and rainy situations

– How fast can you acquire the target through the scope

– What crosshair pattern fits your style

RIFLESCOPE CLARITY & LIGHT GATHERING

Huron Riflescope

Hunt with confidence at extended range with the Trijicon Huron® 3-12×40 riflescope

The clarity factor when it comes to optics is such a big deal. During low light situations, what is happening a lot when you’re hunting is that light is not your friend. Since deer tend to move at dawn and dusk, or in really bad rainy/nasty conditions, it’s not going to be sunny and bright outside. So because of that, the light gathering capability of a riflescope is something that is a huge factor between different brands. When you go into your local Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s, and lift a riflescope up to take a look at all the great mounts on the wall (that are in a well-lit building) of course almost all scopes are going to look good! But when you can get outside at dawn or dusk and in different lighting conditions, those riflescopes that were crystal clear and bright in the store are not going to look the same. Therefore you’ve got to take them out in the field and test them (and then return it if you’re not satisfied) or do a lot of research on which ones will perform in those situations.

When you look at the Trijicon lineup of optics from top to bottom, the quality of their optics is something that’s going to be high in quality and built tough. Trijicon’s products like their riflescopes can last in the field in all elements whether it’s snow, high heat, low light, and rough conditions, and even those times where you might be banging your gear around. The components, the clarity, and the elements in Trijicon’s multi-coated lenses are going to make a big difference when it comes to those first five or last five minutes of light when you’re out there trying to identify the target to put the crosshairs where it matters.

FAST ACQUISITION OF YOUR TARGET

Hunter with Deer and Huron Riflescope

Wade knocked down this Texas Hill Country buck with his T/C Compass II and Trijicon Huron Setup

I’d like to share my thoughts on something that’s not talked about enough, and that’s rapid target acquisition. Many new hunters will crank up their scope’s magnification far too much and in turn, cannot find the vitals and hold the crosshairs on them consistently. This is where understanding your scope’s magnification and when to adjust the magnification in different hunting situations is key.

Having that ability is something that Trijicon really takes a lot of pride in. If you grab some scopes, it’s kind of a battle to adjust them. You can feel the movements are tough and jerky. I suggest you try something like the Trijicon Huron scope lineup that Trijicon has designed for whitetail hunters. It has the magnifications in three different choices to help you as well as having that smooth adjustment between magnification ranges on each model.

CROSSHAIR OPTIONS

Huron Riflescope Reticle

The BDC Hunter Holds reticle found on the Huron Riflescope will get you on target quickly and accommodates the most popular hunting cartridges.

There are a lot of options when it comes to crosshairs in today’s world for rifle scopes, to the point where it can almost be overwhelming. Trijicon is a leader in giving you a multitude of options when it comes to finding the crosshair pattern that you’re the most confident in. Me personally, I’m a traditionalist. I go back to when I was learning how to shoot an old BB gun with a cheap 3×9 scope and that’s what I’ve trained my eye on. Now some incredible things are built into a lot of these new scopes right now to give you better aiming points, but I like a traditional look. Other people may like something totally different and that’s what’s cool about the Huron riflescope lineup, there are so many options within that lineup designed to help whitetail hunters find that crosshair that they personally are going to like the most.

So when you start looking at different options out there for riflescopes, the Trijicon Huron riflescope whitetail lineup exists because it’s going to allow you to find what fits you. Are you a guy hunting in the thick woods? Are you hunting out West? Are you hunting off the side of a mountain? In a box blind?
