Meet the TenPoint Flatline 460™

The Fastest Compact Crossbow Ever Created

TenPoint Crossbows continues its dominance in crossbow speed, accuracy, and shoot-ability with the fastest compact crossbow the world has ever seen – the NEW Flatline 460.

TenPoint Flatline 460 Crossbow

Designed to deliver elite performance from the smallest footprint possible, the Flatline shoots a blistering 460 feet-per-second, measures only 26.5” short, and is equipped with all-new Scope Struts that provide rock solid mounting for the scope – delivering unrivaled durability and accuracy.

“The Flatline 460 is designed for the hardcore hunter – the hunter who walks a little further, sits a little longer, and needs to make the most of that split second opportunity when it presents itself,” said Phil Bednar, CEO. “With its micro footprint – including shorter 16-inch arrows – it provides all the advantages of a low profile without sacrificing speed or accuracy.”

At the heart of the Flatline’s speed and power is a patented reverse-draw bow assembly and 14-inch power stroke. By reversing the bow assembly and changing the riser mounting position, the string’s resting position is extended farther down the rail which creates a 47% longer power stroke than a forward draw crossbow measuring the same length. This increased power stroke provides many advantages over forward draw crossbows:

  • Generates top-end speeds that no forward draw crossbow can match
  • Generates more speed with less draw weight – creating a smoother, quieter shot, with less shock and vibration
  • Creates a longer nock-to-string engagement time during the shot – leading to greater accuracy

TenPoint Flatline 460 Crossbow

In addition, the center-mounted riser provides superior balance, eliminating the “nose heavy” feel of traditional crossbows and making it easier to hold steady, increasing the shooters accuracy.

The Tech Behind the Flatline 460

Man shooting TenPoint Flatline 460

The RX8-Cam™ system allows for maximum rotation to produce speeds of 460 feet-per-second with the included 400-grain arrow. The crossbow’s revolutionary Vector-Quad™ cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two which eliminates cam lean and generates straight-nock travel leading to same-hole down-range accuracy.

The 16-inch MICRO-TRAC™ barrel reduces string-to-barrel contact by 50% to provide increased accuracy and the longest string life in the industry – surpassing competitor crossbows by hundreds of shots.

The Flatline 460’s ultra-light, two-piece TEC-TACTICAL™ stock is built for comfort for shooters of all sizes and includes an adjustable butt plate that adjusts 1” to provide ideal fit.

Shorter Flat Shooting Arrows

To complete the compact footprint, the Flatline 460 uses shorter, 16-inch EVO-X® CenterPunch™ carbon arrows. The advantages of this arrow extend beyond its compact footprint in the quiver and lack of overhang on the crossbow – the shorter arrow provides a flatter trajectory and reduced wind drift at longer ranges as compared to a 20-inch arrow.

EVO-X CenterPunch 16 arrows used with the Flatline 460

EVO-X CenterPunch 16 arrows used with the Flatline 460

EVO-X CenterPunch 16 arrows weigh 400-grains and feature 17.5% FOC.  Each arrow is inspected for straightness to within .001-inch and each package is weight matched to within 1-grain per arrow.

The NEW, longer dovetail (+1.5”) and NEW Scope Struts provide a rock-solid foundation for scope mounting – leading to enhanced durability and long-range accuracy. The dual aluminum Scope Struts increase strength and rigidity by 80%. In addition, the dovetail allows for more scope adjustments, heavier scope options, and provides the strength of a full-length rail without the added weight.

Capable of precision down-range accuracy out to 100-yards, the included EVO-X® Marksman™ Elite Scope decorated in matching Veil Alpine™ camo is a variable speed scope compatible with crossbows shooting up to 500 FPS. The scope’s external Target Turrets provide easy windage and elevation adjustment and drive unmatched long-range accuracy.

Safe Cocking & De-Cocking

Flatline 460 features the ACUslide

The patented ACUslide™ Cocking and De-Cocking System features the Auto-Brake Gear System that separates TenPoint from all other de-cocking crossbows on the market.  The patented Auto-Brake eliminates the potential of losing control during de-cocking which can lead to injury or costly bow damage. While cocking and de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required – and the handle will stop in place. In addition, while most crossbow crank cocking devices require 15+ lbs. of force to operate, the ACUslide requires only 5 lbs. of force, making it easy for people of all ages and abilities to cock the crossbow.

Flatline 460 S1 Trigger

The Flatline 460 features the S1™ trigger.  This 2-stage, zero-creep design features an advanced roller-sear system that delivers a consistent crisp, 3.5-pound pull. The trigger is equipped with a DFI (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) and is fitted with a nylon-filament arrow retention brush that improves arrow grip and alignment to reduce noise and vibration. An integrated string stop system is also included to further reduce noise and vibration.

The Flatline 460 is equipped with our Sentry Bowhanger that allows you to easily hang your bow in the stand or protect your broadhead from dirt and grit in the ground blind.

A dovetail bubble level is also included to help eliminate “tilting/canting” of the crossbow – a critical factor in left/right accuracy.

Decorated in Veil Alpine™ camo, the Flatline 460 ships completely assembled and includes a Ready-To-Hunt package:

  • ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system
  • Evo-X Marksman Elite Camo Precision Scope
  • 6-pack of EVO-X CenterPunch 16 Premium Carbon Crossbow Arrows (.001” straightness, 400-grains)

TenPoint Stealth 450: Greater Long-Range Accuracy and Speed

NEW TenPoint Stealth 450™ Built for Premium Speed, Greater Long-Range Accuracy, and Safe De-Cocking

TenPoint Crossbow Technologies launched their fastest forward draw crossbow ever, the NEW Stealth 450.  Faster and more accurate at longer ranges, the Stealth 450 delivers speeds of 450 FPS (400-grain arrow) and features the industry best ACUslide™ silent cocking and safe de-cocking system.  The ultra-compact crossbow measures a mere 6.5-inches wide, 33-inches long, and weighs 7.5-pounds.

TenPoint Stealth 450

Fueled by RX6-Cams™, the forward draw bow assembly is the difference maker for the Stealth 450. The innovative cam system generates incredible rotation to produce speeds of 450 feet-per-second. The crossbow’s revolutionary Vector-Quad™ cable technology utilizes four cables instead of the traditional two which eliminates cam lean and generates straight-nock travel leading to same-hole down-range accuracy.

New Scope and Scope Struts

Close up of Scope on the Stealth 450 crossbow

The Stealth generates greater down-range accuracy thanks to the combination of its NEW Scope Struts and 100-yard EVO-X® Marksman™ Elite Scope. The dual Scope Struts, along with a NEW, longer dovetail (+1.5”) provide rock-solid stability for the heaviest of rangefinding or night vision scopes and exponential durability for the scope – ensuring the scope rail does not move if dropped during the hunt. The Scope Struts increase strength and rigidity by 80%.

The EVO-X Marksman Elite Scope is a variable speed scope, capable of precision down-range accuracy out to 100-yards.  The variable speed design is compatible with crossbows shooting up to 500 FPS, the Marksman Elite scope features external Target Turrets for easy adjustment to windage and elevation (one click represents ½” MOA at 100-yards) for unmatched long-range accuracy.

In addition, a rail-mounted bubble level allows you to identify and correct any “canting” of the crossbow, helping to eliminate left and right misses.

“The new Stealth 450 is the pinnacle of a high performance, premium forward draw crossbow.  It is lightning fast, lightweight, well-balanced, and incredibly accurate at long ranges.” said Phil Bednar, TenPoint CEO.  “In addition, the ACUslide system is the best cocking and de-cocking system on the market.”

ACUSlide Comes Standard on the Stealth 450

The patented ACUslide™ Cocking and De-Cocking System features the Auto-Brake Gear System that separates TenPoint from all other de-cocking crossbows on the market.  The patented Auto-Brake eliminates the potential of losing control during de-cocking which can lead to injury and costly bow damage. While cocking and de-cocking with the ACUslide, the user can remove their hand from the handle at any point, with no other action required – and the handle will stop in place. In addition, while most crossbow crank cocking devices require 15+ lbs. of force to operate, the ACUslide allows you to silently cock the crossbow with just 5 lbs. of force, making it easy to operate for people of all ages and abilities.

The ultra-light, two-piece TEC-TACTICAL™ stock is built for comfort for shooters of all sizes and includes an adjustable butt plate that adjusts 1” to provide ideal fit. The Stealth 450 is also equipped with the Sentry Bowhanger that allows the hunter to easily hang their bow in the stand and keeps the broadhead within the bows profile for use in a ground blind.

A dovetail bubble level is also included to help eliminate “tilting/canting” of the crossbow – a critical factor in left/right accuracy.

Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops receive U.S. Army’s Highest Civilian Honor, The National Service Award from the Association of the United States Army

Johnny Morris, center, receives award recognizing Bass Pro Shops’ exemplary service and decades-long commitment to supporting veterans and the United States Army community. Award presented by AUSA President and CEO, General (ret.) Robert Brooks Brown (left) and AUSA Vice President, Brigadier General (ret.) Jack Haley.

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) today announced the awarding of its prestigious National Service Award to Bass Pro Shops and its founder, noted conservationist Johnny Morris. Presented in recognition of exemplary service and demonstrated enduring support to the American Soldier and the United States Army community, the National Service Award honors Johnny and Bass Pro Shops’ decades-long commitment to supporting veterans.

“We are honored to give one of our most prestigious awards – The National Service Award – to Bass Pro Shops and Johnny Morris. We recognize their incredible support to the U.S. Army,” said General Bob Brown (retired), President and CEO of the Association of the U.S. Army. “Johnny’s selfless efforts have supported soldiers and their families and our great veterans. We thank him for the generosity and dedication to our Nation.”

Recognized as “the Voice for the Army,” the Association of the United States Army presented the honor to Morris and Bass Pro Shops “in grateful appreciation for their dedicated service to the men and women in uniform and their families.” Morris accepted the award during a special presentation at the Association’s 2022 annual conference in Washington, D.C. attended by more than 40,000 soldiers from across the United States and around the world, representing allied armies from 22 nations. The conference was not only the AUSA’s largest annual gathering, but celebrated the grand opening of the new National Museum of the U.S. Army.

“On behalf of the entire team at Bass Pro Shops, we are humbled to receive this National Service Award. It is a privilege and honor to serve those whose sacrifice lies at the foundation of our way of life in this great nation,” Morris said. “We thank the Association of the United States Army. It truly is a remarkable group that does great work for the U.S. Army community and veterans across the country. This is a true, heartfelt honor that I am proud to accept on behalf of my Father and our 2,600 veteran Outfitters.”

Bass Pro Shops’ Commitment to Veterans and

to the U.S. Army Community

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s have a long history of support for America’s veterans. This commitment stems from the passion of Johnny Morris, whose father, John A. Morris, served in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

For decades, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s have been committed to hiring those who have served our nation. Currently more than 2,600 of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outfitters are veterans or active-duty military personnel. Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s also actively support veterans’ causes and the United States Army community in a variety of ways.

Partnering with the organization Helping a Hero, Bass Pro Shops is improving the lives of disabled American veterans and their families across the country. Through this partnership, Bass Pro Shops paid the mortgage on 10 specially adapted homes for disabled veterans and issued a challenge grant to fund 25% of the construction cost on the next 100 homes built by the organization.

Johnny Morris & Leigh Perkins

Last year, with the support of customers across the country, Bass Pro Shops donated $300,000 to Folds of Honor, an organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen U.S. soldiers. Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s also host a diversity of programs and events, including annual Fishing Dreams outings, being primary sponsor for the Shadow Warrior Project’s golf tournaments, and the 2021 Missouri Veterans Fishin’ Contest, that connect veterans with outdoor experiences. Earlier this year, Morris offered a free day away to more than 500 soldiers at Missouri’s Fort Leonard Wood, providing a visit to the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium for soldiers unable to be with their families during holiday block leave in December.

“My personal respect and gratitude for veterans is deeply rooted. It has been shared by my entire family, especially my dad, John A. Morris,” Morris said. “Growing up as a kid in Missouri, where I learned to hunt and fish, I always knew my father had served in the armed services. It wasn’t until much later in life that he shared with me that he fought in the Battle of the Bulge – one of the most intense conflicts of World War II. I am proud of my dad. His memory serves as an enduring reminder of the selfless courage shared by all who serve our country.”

Morris and Bass Pro Shops have donated more than $1.5 million to establish a series of veterans memorials at the College of the Ozarks in Missouri. The company has also been active in its support of the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s military service initiative that focuses on helping post-9/11 veterans and their families. In 2011, Morris was awarded the prestigious Order of Saint Maurice by the National Infantry Association in support of his outstanding contributions to the Army Infantry.

Morris and Bass Pro Shops have a long and proud history of showcasing support for veterans through the donation of space on NASCAR cars during nationally televised races with millions of viewers. Morris, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s also support a variety of veteran-owned businesses, including Black Rifle Coffee Company and many others. With the support of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Fund and retail stores across the country, Morris and Bass Pro Shops donate to more than 200 veterans’ organizations, including AmVets, the USO and many local veterans’ organizations in communities that host Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s retail locations across the U.S. and Canada.

In 2022, Morris and Bass Pro Shops entered into a partnership with the US Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes Program. This initiative aims to not only increase the number of veterans the company hires, but to showcase the numerous workplace and cultural benefits of working with those who have served our nation. Through it all, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s continue to offer its standing “Legendary Salute” military discount in all Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s stores and online, with more than a million discounted transactions in the past year alone.

Yamaha Pledges $500K, Urges All to Get Outdoors on September 24

Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative Celebrates National Public Lands Day and National Hunting and Fishing Day

Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, is encouraging people to get outside and enjoy the outdoors on Saturday, September 24, 2022, in honor of National Public Lands Day and National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHF Day). In recognition of these events, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI) is renewing its annual pledge to commit $500,000 to organizations supporting access to land for outdoor recreation and encouraging applications for grants before the next quarterly deadline on September 30.

National Public Lands Day

A group of Yamaha Side-by-Sides gather in the mountains

National Public Lands Day is Sept. 24th

National Public Lands Day invites volunteers nationwide to help restore and preserve public lands – from national parks to local urban green spaces – directly aligning with Yamaha OAI’s goal of protecting public lands for outdoor recreation. To date, the Yamaha OAI program has contributed over $5 million in funding and equipment across more than 425 projects in the last 14 years to assist outdoor recreationists working to protect and improve access to public land and educate everyone on safe, sustainable recreational use. Yamaha OAI has proven to be the industry’s most reliable partner and a significant resource for those who depend on access to public land for work and play.

National Hunting and Fishing Day

Yamaha Side-by-Side in the woods

On the fourth Saturday of every September, NHF Day recognizes generations of sportsmen and women for their contributions to the conservation of our nation’s rich sporting heritage and natural resources.

Additionally, on September 24, National Hunting and Fishing Day is celebrating its 50th anniversary. NHF Day events are organized each year by Wonders of Wildlife to spread awareness of the conservation and economic benefits, as well as traditions and values of hunting and fishing. Yamaha OAI is a founding partner of Wonders of Wildlife’s Live It! program and a supporter of its efforts to expand NHF Day events across the country. These events play a significant role in expanding awareness of the issues facing public access and outdoor recreation, and the Live It! program supports local conservation groups wanting to host or enhance NHF Day events, but are limited in their resources.

Since access to public land is best protected by visitors’ responsible and sustainable practices, Yamaha OAI partners with Recreate Responsibly Coalition (RRC) on a variety of activities, including signage for land managers to educate visitors on appropriate, responsible use of trails and riding areas. Those interested in applying for the signs can simply complete a form at the following link:  Yamaha OAI / RRC Responsible Use Signage Request.

“Last year we made a commitment to grant half a million dollars to outdoor projects, and we’re proud to say we exceeded that goal,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s Motorsports marketing manager. “Our lives are rooted in the outdoors and Yamaha’s direct and significant financial support of Wonders of Wildlife, Recreate Responsibly, and so many other outdoor organizations help make recreation on public lands possible. In celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day and National Public Lands Day, we’re excited to renew our annual commitment to make a minimum of $500,000 available in 2022 to organizations who help create opportunities for outdoor recreation.”

Apply to the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative

Each quarter, Yamaha accepts applications from nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations including OHV riding clubs and associations, national, state, and local public land-use agencies, outdoor enthusiast associations, and land conservation groups with an interest in protecting, improving, expanding, and/or maintaining access for safe, responsible, and sustainable public use.

Industry-First Double Barrel Air Archery Gun

The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2

by Wade Middleton

The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2

The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2

The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 can expand your world and create more hunting opportunities. You can expand your seasons in some situations and for sure expand the experiences that you get to do while you are out in the field.

In the last 20 years, I’ve really tried to hunt with many different things and hunt different animals. The Umarex® AirSaber® Elite X2 will be a new notch in the belt. With the Umarex® AirSaber® Elite X2 you now have the ability to shoot one arrow and have a follow up shot ready to go. Equipped with a 240 cc onboard tank, the AirSaber Elite X2 will send 25 shots from its barrels at big game lethal velocity. The first five shots will all launch above 450 FPS and 130 ft-lbs. of energy. Accessing the second shot just requires the press of a push-through barrel selector.

With ammo prices and availability being what they are these days, air gun hunting is starting to gain traction. With that in mind, this is not going to be something that many people are familiar with. So, when you open the box, you should first locate and read the instructions making sure you follow all their steps precisely. Then getting all dialed in at the range will be a lot of fun.

Adapta Point Technology Accepts Most Broadheads

The Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 comes with 3 AirSaber Arrows with 100 grain field tips. Made exclusively for the Umarex AirSaber, these carbon-fiber arrows feature Straight Flight Technology that can withstand the extreme pressure created by the hard-hitting AirSaber. The arrow itself weighs 276 grains and the included field tip weighs 376 grains. When we take this out into the field, we’ll switch out the field points for the BlackOut Toxik Fixed-Blade Broadhead. These Toxik broadheads have proven be devastating to drive through whitetail, hogs, or whatever might appear during our hunt.  You also can shoot a variety of mechanical broadheads as well.

The scope that comes in the box is an Axeon 4×32 Scope. This scope works just like any rifle scope you have used and is specifically designed to work with the Umarex AirSaber.

The Umarex ReadyAir can handle fills in minutes up to 4,500 PSI to keep hard-hitting big bores and air archery rifles like the Umarex AirSaber flinging arrows with authority.

My first impressions of the Umarex AirSaber Elite X2 is that it has a very unique and modern design. After building it out and filling it up with the Umarex ReadyAir, it took maybe about 8-10 shots for us to be dialed in and confident to take it into the field. The X2 features very, very, very low recoil. It’s not very loud for people that are sensitive to loud noises. Some people fear the recoil from a big high-powered rifle. Some people do not like the BANG. So shooting an air gun like this would be a great introductory tool to hunting or target shooting.

There is a lot of exciting things to be able to play with when you get into the hunting and shooting sports world. There is so many different means and methods that are legal depending on where you hunt. I always tell people to check their local regulations on where you are hunting and what you’re hunting with.

What Handguns to Use for Hunting Whitetail

by Wade Middleton

Learn What Models Wade Uses for Handgun Hunting

It is a well-known fact I have become addicted to handgun hunting. As a hunter, I’ve always embraced hunting through a variety of means and methods, allowing me to start and end my season earlier in many cases. I consider myself a whitetail hunting fanatic, and as such, I’ve never turned down a chance to hunt with something different. Which lead me into the world of handgun hunting so I could have more reasons to hunt whitetails.

This new addiction has forced me to learn a lot more about how handguns work, how the ballistics of different calibers perform, what ammo works best in hunting, as well as sending me to the range more than ever to learn better trigger control. When you look at handguns, I favor the ones made by Smith & Wesson. You can tell immediately they’re designed for ultimate performance in the field. Many of the models I hunt with have muzzle breaks at the end of the barrel to help reduce recoil. Furthermore, many of these handguns are built to be better balanced in the field, allowing for the opportunity to hunt at longer distances with higher performance. In addition, many of them have triggers that are far more crisp than say some models you might find, which really helps when it comes to trigger control when a whitetail is standing in front of you. Finally, they are built to add various accessories such as scopes, fiber optic sights, and various red/green dot sights.

Smith & Wesson Performance Center® Model 629 Stealth Hunter in .44 magnum equipped with a Trijicon SRO sight

This past season I spent a lot of time shooting my Smith & Wesson Performance Center® Model 629 Stealth Hunter in .44 magnum. This is one of my favorite hunting handguns and I’ve been using it for nearly a decade. I recently mounted a Trijicon SRO sight on top of it to field test that sight after shooting the Trijicon RMR sight in the past off this handgun. My early thoughts are this is the best sight in its class.

The Trijicon SRO is very easy to acquire a whitetail in the sights and place the dot onto the vitals. I am very impressed with the sight picture and how easy it was to sight it in. Overall, I feel this is the best option for this style of sight when it comes to hunting.

Looking back at my first handgun whitetail buck taken with this model of handgun, I vividly recall practicing all summer at various distances but none of that practice prepared me for that hunt. With little experience personally when it came to handgun hunting, I was, to say the least, nervous throughout the entire encounter. I still remember it vividly, the way that deer was darting in and out of the trees while running and fighting with another deer as they tried to prove dominance to a doe that was nearby. My hands were sweating nonstop as I prayed from inside the pop-up blind for the buck to stop in a narrow shooting lane. He finally did, and ended up turned quartering slightly towards me and I pulled my shot a little bit. I was so worked up that I honestly wasn’t even sure I’d hit the deer. It ended up being that I did in fact, hit the deer mid body up and down but slightly back, so I knew it was a mortal hit. We found the buck about two hours after the shot. My takeaway was that I needed to practice, practice, practice, and really work on my trigger pull with a handgun to help me overcome the excitement of a deer finally giving me a shot.

I also learned to study more on the various handgun loads. When it comes to most of my hunting and shooting with that handgun, I’ve settled on 200-grain XTP .44 mag ammo from Hornady. I can say undoubtably, the Smith & Wesson Performance Center® Model 629 Stealth Hunter in .44 Magnum set up will always be in my top three favorite hunting handguns and I would argue around about any campfire why I prefer it.

Smith & Wesson Performance Center® Model 460 XVR

Smith & Wesson 460XVR Handgun

Smith & Wesson’s Model 460XVR™ has the highest muzzle velocity of any production revolver on earth.

Next up, we discuss another of my favorite handguns, the Smith & Wesson Model 460 XVR. This handgun is known to have the highest muzzle velocity of any production revolver on earth. According to Smith & Wesson, the Model 460 XVR (X-treme Velocity Revolver) is the world’s highest velocity production revolver, as well as the most powerful.45 caliber production revolver. The .460 XVR can launch a 200-grain (13-gram) bullet at 2,330 feet per second (710 meters per second), generating 2,416 foot-pounds force of muzzle energy.

Aside from the .460 S&W Magnum cartridge, the revolver can chamber .454 Casull and .45 Colt ammunition. Personally, we’ll use .45 long colt out on the range a lot of times for practicing specific hunting scenarios or if we want to work on our trigger pull. The key reasons being that load is cheaper and does not punish your hands quite as bad as the .460 ammo.

Smith & Wesson offers this handgun in a variety of barrel lengths, and you can order them with HIVIZ fiber optic sights already equipped (which we recommend and have used in the field). I believe when hunting with open sights, HIVIZ fiber optics sights allow you to acquire the target faster due to its light gathering capabilities. This helps tremendously during those early morning or late evening times thanks to its light-gathering capabilities. I believe this forces me to focus on the sight picture by it catching my eye quickly as I bring the handgun into play on the vitals of a deer or other animal I’m hunting.

I spent one summer really working with the .460XVR fitted with HIVIZ sights in an effort to take a buck with open sights with the.460 XVR. That experience and the buck I ended up taking, turned out to be one of my biggest handgun bucks ever. I can still see that buck and the other buck he was traveling with working through a broomweed field and coming into range. After calming myself, the .460 round found the lungs and I found the buck less than 60 yards from where I took the shot. The summer of practice really paid off on that one.

Wade’s practicing paid off BIG TIME!

Regardless, of what model you hunt with, regardless of what caliber you settle on, I simply say practice a lot for the hunting scenarios you likely will encounter. I also recommend that you spend time shooting off a good brace to build confidence in both your trigger pull but also the sight picture for whatever you are going to use be it a scope, red dot, or open sights. The more you shoot, the more confident you’ll be when it comes time to take a shot on whatever you’re hunting.
